THE TRIAD_
"Lorem ipsum dolor, sit amet consectetur adipisicing elit. Officia nisi, placeat reiciendis veritatis aperiam vitae totam sequi ratione vero inventore quis tempore odit tempora repudiandae quam exercitationem fugiat quasi aliquid." —— xyz in NECROPHANTASMAGORIA (20XX)
Born from decadence, the Triad is an amalgamated transnational organized crime syndicate based in Greater China with outposts in various countries having significant Chinese diaspora populations. Not to be confused with the criminal organization from the Qing Dynasty of the same name.
Note: yeah, I couldn’t think of a name for a triad group so it is just The Triad.
The Triad participates in many activities such as immigration fraud, extortion, and gun-for-hire services. Most members are of the working class, namely those a part of armed forces.
Due to the rapidly-changing nature of the political and social environment, as of 2013, the interworkings of the Triad are turbulent with hostilities high amongst other members. Two distinct factions have arisen though not officially rectified; the conservative Proto-Triad and the reforming Neo-Triad.
Because of the sheer size of this organization, central leadership is not stable. Many subgroups have opted to do their own thing, making money that circulates mostly within the area but does eventually trickle upwards. Because of this, the Triad has varying reputations (sometimes known to be cruel, othertimes, honorable) in different places, it depends which persons are operating out of the area.
The Triad does have influence in politics and major enterprises but they are far from having them under their control. Only a small minority of Triad members are wealthy and influencial.
After the end, the Triad was abandoned by Han (leader at the time), and is more of an identity than an organization.
The Triad used to be more orderly when Folk religion is was incorporated in its practices. Traditions were enforced, valuing righteousness and loyalty. Nationalist sentiments were very high. Aside from making money, there weren't any long-term goals that the Triad worked towards though many members did have personal political ideals they wanted to enforce.
Adhering to the nature of criminal organizations, the Triad had enforced initiation ceremonies for new members. Oaths, animal sacrifices, swords, all that good stuff.
The Triad wasn't founded, per se, but rather evolved from the prominence of secret societies in southern China born from wars and political conflict.
It wasn't until the Chinese economic reform that the Triad grew drastically in size and power.
