De Torres Therapeutics (often shortened to just ‘Torres’) is a North American-based private company specializing in bio-cybernetics and a front for arms manufacteuring and trading. Though they’re nothing short of a megacorp in terms of power, Torres is not widely known. As a seemingly modest and relatively small company, they have multiple ties to global terrorist organizations, and a hand in political spheres.
Torres is positively recieved by the public. Sinclair and Solana had intended to keep it tht way, always responsive as to how their public image shapes. They attended a lot of charity events and indulged in humanitarian projects. The very crux of their company was advertised as putting human wellness and health first.
They couldn't be any further from hypocritical as Torres funded gun-running schemes and manufacteured weaponry that was well past military-grade. Additionally, they weren't shy to kidnap, torture, and coerce those in politics.
Torres had always been a very closed off group. There would be no climbing the ranks to become the next president; it was all lineage-orientated.
Under Lysander's leadership, this was all thrown out the window with no way for the family to their foot back into the game.

Torres was founded as "Prisma" in 1985 by Sinclair De Torres and three of his colleagues. Prisma was not very successful at first, constantly verging bankruptcy for 5 years until a colleague engineered an effective laser therapy treatment. Sinclair stole the idea and advertised it as his own, popularity skyrocketing within days. He threatened his colleagues to quit and replaced them with his wife, Solana, painting her as a co-founder and appointing her to be co-president. They changed the name of Prisma to De Torres Therapeutics. Torres saw great public success in the proceeding years. It had even gotten a heir and posterchild; Angelos de Torres. Once the company was wealthy and influential, it began to build a presence in the underground clandestine scene.
Sixteen years later, Sinclair was outed for having an affair and child endangerment. To redeem his reputation, he pulled a publicity stunt with his son, Lysander. Sinclair had blown off Lysander's right arm. He framed it as Lysander losing his arm in a terrorist attack and engineered a prosthetic arm for the young man. This stunt worked so well in Sinclair's favor that he pivoted Torres from being a general therapeutics company to specializing in prosthetics.
